"Are you nervous?" Maria asked Leon as she placed her head on his shoulders. Leon didn't answer right away. His eyes were still on the road and he looks like he's still getting his thoughts together. At last, he lets out a loud sigh and said "I'm sure they'll understand. Are you?" Maria wasn't able to answer immediately as well. She spaced out for a while and finally said "I don't how they would react. I hope they do understand."

Finally, they reached Maria's house. It was a typical white house with a porch just outside where Maria's parents was waiting for their arrival.

Maria's dad is a lawyer and her mom is a house wife. As they park their car at the garage, Maria could see the excitement in her mom's eyes. Her mom was her best friend. She tells her everything that's going on with her and she's also excited to see her mom again.

It wasn't the first time that Leon would be meeting Maria's family. He met them over a year ago and everything went very well. In fact, Leon was considered as a part of their family already. He shows up to every occasion and gatherings that Maria's family would held.

Maria stepped out of the car and immediately ran after her mother and gave her a tight hug. She got teary eyed and secretly hoped that her mom would understand and support her decision. She gave her dad a tight hug as well. "Are you crying?" asked Maria's mom. "I just missed the both of you so much" she replied.

Leon stepped out of the car and greeted Maria's parents. He shook the hands of Maria's dad and a kiss to the mom.

Nervousness could easily be read in both Maria and Leon's faces as they entered the house. They all sat down in the dining area and had their coffee. Nobody's saying a word yet and tension could be felt around them. It was awkward and Leon's nerves is starting to take over him. Finally, the mom broke the silence and said "So was it the reason behind this sudden visit?"

None of hem spoke a word. Maria and Leon kept quiet as they both took a sip of their coffee. Maria could feel his dad staring at her. Leon was about to say something when Maria interrupted him saying "Nothing mom. We just missed the you and dad. It's no big deal. We thought a visit once in a while wouldn't hurt right?" Leon stared at Maria in disbelief.

"I don't buy that young lady. I've known you your whole life and I know when you're lying and when you're not. " Said Maria's father. "What were you saying Leon?" Leon's face turned red. He knows that this is it. This is the moment. There's no turning back now. It's now or never. He tried his best not to stutter as he said "There's no easy way to say this so I' m just gonna put it out there." Leon took Maria's hands and said "We're married."

Shock could be traced on the face of Maria's parents. Her mom cried but it wasn't a cry of disappointment. Maria cried as well and then hugged her mother tight. Her mom kissed her and right then and there she knew that her mother understood. Her mother understood the entire thing. No explanations needed. Leon was fighting back his tears as well. He look at Maria's father who is motionless during those times. Leon wasn't quite what the dad feels.

Leon went near him and said "I'm very sorry sir and I would understand if you're disappointed with me." He wasn't done speaking yet when the dad interrupted him and said "Promise me one thing, that you'll take of her no matter what happens. Take care of my baby girl." Leon couldn't fight back the tears anymore. He broke down and promised that he would take care of Maria and love her with all his heart.

Maria went to his dad and hugged him tightly. Leon hugged Maria's mother as well. They all were crying. Crying because of happiness.
